Dr. Rewatkumar Borkar received Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering, M.Tech. in Environmental Engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur and Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering(CESE) from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Powai Mumbai. He is currently Principal at Govt. College of Engineering Jalgaon (An autonomous Institute of Govt.of Maharashtra) since July, 2011.
He has started his career as lecturer in Civil Engineering in KDK College of Engineering, Nagpur. He has worked as lecturer and head of department in Civil Engg at Govt. Polyechnics, in Nagpur region. He worked as Associate Professor and Professor in Civil Engg at Govt. College of Engineering Amravati for 12 years before joining as Principal at Jalgaon. He worked as Dean (academics), Head of Civil Engg. Deptt, Head, Civil & Applied Mech deptt, member on Academic council, Board of Management, member-secretary of Building & Works committee at Govt. College of Engineering Amravati. Also worked as BoS and academic council member at Sant Gadge Baba (SGB), Amravati University Amravati. He has obtained one patent on “Innovative method of biodegradation of Chlorobenzenes using UASB reactor ”Application No.392/MUM/2010A; Granted on 11/04/204 (Patent No. 260239)”. He currently works on different academic positions such as BoS chairman, RRC member, Academic council member, Building & Works committee members, at North Maharashtra University (NMU) Jalgaon. He was selected as expert member by UGC, New Delhi for conferring the autonomous status to Engineering colleges in different states. He is approved research guide at SGB Amravati University, Amravat and NMU Jalgaon. Under his academic leadership, Govt. College of Engineering, Jalgaon has recently shortlisted in Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-III) by NPIU (under HRD Ministry), New Delhi. He has published more that 25 research papers in various conferences and journals.
His interest in teaching at UG and PG level includes courses like Advanced Wastewater Treatment, Industrial Wastewater Treatment, Hazardous Waste management, Solid Waste Management, Environmental Impact & Analysis. His research experience includes the use of advanced municipal wastewater treatment using tidal flow constructed wetland. He is a life member professional organization like Indian Society for Technical Education, Indian Water works Association and Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India). He is actively involved for reviewing the various referred journals papers and was evaluators of many Ph.D thesis. He has participated in many Indian and international conferences, workshops and chaired the session at International Conference held at Sardar Patel College of Engineering, Andheri, Mumbai in 2012.
Dr.Borkar has prepared many academic reports which were useful for obtaining autonomous status, running the autonomy in the institutes and obtaining the research grants from AICTE. He was deputed by Govt. of Maharashtra under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) phase-II to study on “Effective academia Leadership Strategies- a global perspective” at SEGi University,Kota Damansara,Malaysia in 2013 and also deputed at National University of Singapore ” NUS Programme for Leadership in University Management” in 2014.
