Department of Civil Engineering
Preamble :-
The Department of Civil Engineering was established the academic year 2010-11. Since its inception, the primary objective of the department has been to impart quality education, training, and research at the undergraduate levels in various areas of Civil Engineering, with broad emphasis on structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, water resources engineering, transportation engineering, and environmental engineering. The department has a team of well-experienced faculty members.
The department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories featuring modern equipment, providing students with hands-on experience essential for their professional development. The Civil Engineering department also has a research center recognized by KBC North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, offering a Ph.D. (Civil Engineering) program. Currently 4 research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. from the department.
The department has consistently been on a high growth path and is known for its experienced and dedicated faculty with a strong commitment to engineering education. Post-autonomy, to keep pace with current technological trends, the undergraduate curricula are continuously updated to meet the needs of the industry. The most recent revision was made in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020), with all relevant features adopted by the department.
The major areas of faculty expertise in the department includes Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering.
The Civil Engineering course offered by the department is known for its applied nature, which includes a strong laboratory component and project work in each year of study (from the second year to the fourth year of B. Tech.). It is designed for students who aspire to become professional engineers in various fields of civil engineering. The course emphasizes the importance of structural design, geotechnical analysis, environmental sustainability, and the application of principles developed in the course to solve significant practical problems. The department’s workshop and laboratory facilities are extensively used by students for project work, which is a major feature of the course. The department also provides tools for simulation and computer-aided design, ensuring students are well-versed in modern engineering practices.
The department is committed to preparing its students to meet new industry challenges by emphasizing:
