Preamble
The department of Electronics and Telecommunication was established on 30th May 1996. Since its commencement, the primary objective of the department has been to impart quality education, training and research at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in various areas of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering with broad emphasis on design aspects of electronic systems. Faculty members are well-experienced and 4 faculty members are Ph. D. in E&TC Engineering.
This department has all the laboratories with modern equipment.
In 2010, the department had started post graduate course M.Tech (Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering) with specialization in Digital Systems, approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The E & TC department has a research center recognized by KBC North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, wherein Ph. D. (Electronics Engineering) program is being run. Currently, 5 research scholars are persuing the Ph. D. from the department. The Department has always been on a high growth path and has experienced and dedicated faculty with a strong commitment to engineering education. Post-autonomy, to keep pace with the current technological trends, all the undergraduate and postgraduate curricula are continuously being updated to meet the needs of the industries, with the recent revision done in tune with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) with all the features adopted by the department.
The course offered is well known for its applied nature including a strong laboratory component and project work in each year of study (Second year to fourth year B. Tech.). It is designed for students who wish to become professional engineers in the fields of electronics and communication engineering. The course emphasizes the importance of communication and electronics systems and the applications of principles developed in the course to the solution of significant practical problems. Workshop and laboratory facilities are utilized by students for the extensive project work that is a major feature of the course. PC and workstation based computing laboratories provide tools for electronic circuit simulation and computer-aided design work.
The major areas of faculty expertise of the department include Basic Electronics, Communication Systems, Computer Networks, Control Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Image Processing & Computer Vision, Instrumentation, Multimedia Security, Power Electronics, Power Systems, Radar Signal Processing, RF and Microwaves, VLSI Systems, Biomedical Signal Processing.
The department focuses on preparing its students to meet new business challenges and making them aware of the recent advances in the technological field by emphasizing on:
- A Strong technical training mechanisms
- Skill enhancement in design, development, analysis and testing of microelectronic circuits and system
- Latest trends in simulation and their practices
- Analog and digital CMOS design and VLSI
- Contemporary human resource management and development along with human values Over and above the academic activities and academic achievements, the students have been demonstrating skills in various extracurricular domains that include research paper presentations, sports, and performing arts. They have been conducting assorted activities like personality development programs, group discussions, workshops, tree plantations and campus cleanliness campaigns. They are seeking admissions to most reputed institutes like IITs and NITs to pursue their M. Tech. and doctoral degree. Dr. S. P. Mohani is working as Head of the Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering department and has earlier worked as Dean (Academics) of the institute.
