Dean Students Activities/Gymkhana
Since its inception in 1996-97, the Government College of Engineering Jalgaon has fostered a vibrant student activities department, known as the Gymkhana. This department oversees a wide range of activities, including:
- Cultural Activities: Annual social gatherings, the university cultural festival (Uvarang), Abhivyakti, and celebrations for various days (Jayanti, National Day, etc.). The Gymkhana also organizes cleanliness drives, anti-ragging campaigns, and Vysanmukti (anti-tobacco and drugs) awareness programs.
- Sports: Intra-institute, inter-collegiate, university, state, and national-level competitions.
- Technical Activities: The Student National Festival (Techarena), research paper contests (Technovision), and other technical activities encompassing workshops, STTPs, bridge gap courses, and soft skill trainings. These activities are focused under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP), a joint project of the state and central governments, supported by the World Bank.

Sports/ Cultural/Technical Activities
2023-24:
- Tech Carvaan-2K24, the technical event, was held on March 9th.
- The institutional sports fest, Ashvamedh, was held from February 23rd to March 1st.
- The institute celebrated various festivals, including Ganesh Utsav and Garba Night, and observed events like Vigilance Awareness Week, Communal Harmony Week, Marathi Bhasha Sanvardhan Pandharwada, and Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din.
- Thirty-seven students were selected for zonal-level sports competitions, and five for university-level competitions.
- Shiv Jayanti was celebrated from February 16th to 19th, with a blood donation camp organized during the festivities.
- Carvaan-2K24, the cultural fest, was organized by the Gymkhana from March 1st to 7th.
- The Sanyukta Jayant Sohala was organized on April 14th.
2022-23:
- Twenty-one students were selected for zonal-level sports competitions, and three for university-level competitions.
- The institute organized various co-curricular and extracurricular activities, including a blood donation camp on September 5th, the institutional sports fest from November 29th to December 5th, Garba Night on October 4th,Shivjanmotsav on February 19th, and a three-day cultural fest (Carvaan 2K23) from March 13th to 15th.
2021-22: The Gymkhana organized several events, including:
- Shivswarajya Din: Celebrated on June 6, 2021.
- Yoga Session: Held on International Women's Day, March 16, 2022.
- TechCarvaan 2022: A two-day technical event.
- Carvaan 2022: A two-day cultural event organized by the Gymkhana from May 18th to 19th.
- Sportford 2K22: The institute's annual sports event, held from May 9th to 18th.
2020-21:
- The Gymkhana celebrated "Marathi Bhasha Savarshan Pandharwada," an initiative by the Government of Maharashtra, from January 14th to 28th.
- The Gymkhana organized three events for "Azadi ka amrut mahostav": an essay competition on March 12th, a quiz on April 3rd, and a webinar on the Freedom Struggle of India on April 4th.
2019-20:
- The Gymkhana organized Sport Week 2020 from February 5th to 28th.
- The Gymkhana organized the Annual Social Gathering "Jallosh 2020" from March 8th to 10th.
- The Gymkhana organized the national-level technical event "Tacho-Arena 2020" from March 5th to 6th.
2016-17: Ten students, who were university-level winners, participated at the national level. Forty-seven students were zonal-level winners, and two students were selected for Ashwamedh. In cultural activities, 30 students participated in YUVARANG, and two students won bronze medals in debate.
2015-16: Four students, who were university-level winners, participated at the national level. Forty-two students were zonal-level winners, and two students were selected for Ashwamedh. In cultural activities, 24 students participated in YUVARANG, and four students won bronze medals.
2014-15: Ten students, who were university-level sports winners, participated at the national level. Twenty-seven students were zonal-level winners, and one student was selected for the Ashwamedh competition. In cultural activities, 39 students participated in the University Youth Festival (YUVARANG).
2013-14: Two students, who were university-level winners, participated at the national level. One student participated at the university level, and eight participated at the zonal level in sports.
2012-13: Three students participated at the university level and seven at the zonal level in sports.
Students actively participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, guided by a cultural committee composed of faculty and student representatives.
The institute boasts well-trained teams and offers facilities for a wide range of sports and games, including Athletics,Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Football, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, and Volleyball, as recognized by North Maharashtra University.An annual sports week is held in January or February each year, featuring various events like Athletics, Basketball, Chess,Cricket, Football, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, and Volleyball for interdepartmental students and faculty members. Separate events are also organized for boys, girls, and staff. Both indoor and outdoor games, such as Carrom, Chess, Football tournaments, and Cricket, are played throughout the year. The institute has ample space to host the Annual Social Gathering, which involves various committees like Reception, Stage, Sound System, Refreshment, Dance, Singing,Drama, and Fishpond. Each sub-event is managed by a coordinator and a co-coordinator.
The institute hosts an annual technical event called Tech-Carvaan, featuring various technical activities organized by individual departments. Additionally, a cultural event called Carvaan is held. The Cultural Secretary oversees the cultural event, while the Convenor heads the technical event. For both events, a coordinator and co-coordinator are appointed,along with subcommittees.
An annual committee, known as the Yuvati Sabha, is formed specifically for female students. Two representatives from the student body serve as coordinators. This committee organizes expert talks by renowned women and conducts self-defense programs for female students, with financial support from the university.
Hostel committees are established in both girls' and boys' hostels to address mess-related issues and maintain overall discipline.
Other Activities:
The institute organizes an annual blood donation camp on campus. The Training and Placement Cell collaborates with departments to conduct industrial visits for third-year students. A cleanliness campaign is held on August 15th each year.Students actively participate in intra and inter-departmental seminars, conferences, workshops, quizzes, and debates.Additionally, students publish departmental technical magazines and newsletters. The Students Association of the department organizes fresher's welcomes and farewells. Institute-level programs, such as Shivjayanti and cultural nights,are also held. Students are encouraged to participate in and conduct workshops, seminars, and industrial awareness camps organized by the institute.
